Chicago City Treasurer Kurt Summers today announced that he is hosting the first annual Holiday Pop-Up Art Gallery event at the Treasurer’s Office in City Hall, Room 106. The gallery is open to the public from 9am-5pm, Monday-Friday, beginning Monday, December 14, 2015 through Wednesday, December 23, 2015. Chicago’s City Hall sees hundreds of visitors and residents daily, making the location an easy stop for those looking to find a unique or one-of-a-kind holiday gift. The artwork on display is represented by local artists from around Chicago’s 77 neighborhoods. Treasurer Summers’ focus is on bringing the community together to support these aspiring Chicago artists’ hard work and exceptional talent.

“Chicago is brimming with tremendous talent in every corner of every neighborhood,” Treasurer Summers said. “The pop-up gallery is a way to promote local artists at a location that sees hundreds of visitors daily. It’s inspiring to bring in the creative spirit of Chicago’s residents and share it with all of City Hall.”

There are currently more than 15 artists’ that will be exhibiting their work, which range in size and include photography, oil canvas, and painted wood panels. Tim Jarosz, one of the presenting artists, is thrilled to be a part of this opportunity.

“I’m excited and thankful that Treasurer Summers is hosting this event,” Jarosz said. “While I have my own art studio, Studio 312, located in Wicker Park, this gallery raises awareness to others in the community who aren’t familiar with what I do. I take so much pride in my art and for Treasurer Summers to recognize that and go as far as to acknowledge what I do in his office with the rest of Chicago, is beyond me. I cannot thank him enough.”

This event at 121 N. LaSalle St., Room 106, is open to the public to stop by, view and purchase items on display. All proceeds go directly back to the featured artists.
