2021 March of Dimes
Collective Impact Chairman

I am proud to serve as the 2021 Chicago March for Babies Chair in support of the March of Dimes Birth Equity Task Force Initiative. Through this leadership role, I am committed to helping the most vulnerable in Chicago. Families are currently facing significant maternal and infant health disparities in the west and south side communities. Social determinants such as unemployment, gun violence and access to care contribute to these poor health outcomes.  A black woman is three times as likely to die from a pregnancy-related cause as their white counterparts. A Latina woman is twice as likely.

March of Dimes helps level the playing field for all Chicagoland moms and babies, no matter their age, socioeconomic background or demographics. They have been at the forefront of the fight for health equity for decades by providing programs and resources to help achieve parity in maternal and child health. They are committed to improving access to care, training healthcare providers to tackle bias, and advocating for policies that promote safe and healthy communities.

March of Dimes is working with Chicagoland leaders to take specific actions toward reducing health disparities for moms and babies. On April 25, the Chicago March for Babies: A Mother of a Movement will bring the community together. Through this fundraising campaign, we need your help to reach our impact goal of $50,000.
