Money Smart Week
Money Smart Week
Money Smart Week is a program created by the Federal Reserve Bank in Chicago. Since 2002, the Federal Reserve and many community partners, including the Chicago Treasurer’s Office, have worked together to present financial literacy programing for all ages during the first week in April.
Coming in Spring of 2021: Compete to Wall Street
The City Treasurer’s Office will sponsor a five-day financial literacy program for elementary school students in underserved communities, including interactive financial literacy lessons, opportunities to meet financial professionals, field-trips, real-life stock trading, and the opportunity to win a trip with Treasurer Conyears-Ervin to Wall Street.
Financial literacy empowerment through the Compete to Wall Street program is designed to raise youth awareness, knowledge, and interest in their finances. Youth participants will explore a variety of financial literacy concepts that include how to manage their money, create a personal budget, understand the importance of saving, use credit, avoid credit pitfalls and payday loans, protect their credit and identity, and learn about the stock market.
