CHICAGO – City Treasurer Kurt Summers will lead the ninth quarterly earnings call on July 31 at 12 PM CST and share the City of Chicago’s investment portfolio performance for Q1 2017. The Treasurer will also be joined by TechNexus CEO Terry Howerton who will talk about the important role technology plays in Chicago being at the forefront of innovation in the many industries crucial to our city’s local economy.

Register for the call and webinar here.

“Amid an environment of fiscal uncertainty at the federal, state and local level, Chicago continues to prove that the city we call home is a great place to invest,” Treasurer Summers said. “Whether our natural assets, diverse neighborhoods, or entrepreneurial infrastructure, Chicago remains ripe for investment and innovation in business. As your City Treasurer, I want to make sure we facilitate opportunities to invest in the future of Chicago and all of its residents.”

Treasurer Summers created the quarterly earnings call at the start of his term as a vehicle for financial transparency and accountability. In addition to providing investment portfolio performance for the City of Chicago, the call will provide an overview of the local and national economies.

“Chicago has one of the largest—and certainly most diversified and balanced, economies of any city in the world,” TechNexus Venture Collaborative CEO Terry Howerton said. “With more than a dozen major industries, and strong emerging entrepreneur and innovation sector, this city is better poised to invent and deploy much of the new technology that will redefine most of these global industries. Though, building a more inclusive opportunity for all Chicagoans is critical, and failure to address this need will continue to limit our overall strength and competitiveness on the global stage.”

All Chicagoans are welcome to join the call by registering here. Participants will be able to dial-in to the call or watch the presentation with audio online on July 31 after registering.
