Elevator Pitch Finalists Announced!

SCORE Chicago and City Treasurer Stephanie Neely announce the Top Seven Finalists In the Second Annual Elevator Pitch Plus Contest

Finalists to appear on CANTV21 over the next seven weeks

SCORE Chicago and the City of Chicago Treasurer’s Office are pleased to announce the Top Seven Finalists in the Second Annual Elevator Pitch Plus Contest.

The contest goal is to encourage local Chicago based small businesses to develop and use their “elevator pitch.” This pitch should be used as a way of communicating the business’ value proposition in an efficient and informative manner. In a brief minute, you should be able to explain what you do, how you do it and where someone can learn more.

“An elevator pitch is a fundamental business skill,” said Treasurer Stephanie Neely, “that helps turn opportunity into success.”

More than 300 entrants submitted a video of their elevator pitch, vying for their share of $8,500 in prizes and a chance to make their pitch on CAN-TV. Each entrant was provided with an opportunity to attend a SCORE workshop specifically tailored to teach how to write and record their pitch. In addition, they were encouraged to meet with one of the 120 local SCORE mentors for FREE face to face meetings that teach this or any other business skill, as long as the company leader requires, for the life of the business!

The videos have been judged by more than 50 local business and government leaders. The final seven will be highlighted over the next seven weeks. Each finalist will be interviewed by Mark Goodman during a 25 minute broadcast.

The Finalists:

  • #51 Ariane Fisher, Storymix Media
  • #97 Susan Good, Gramma Good
  • #118 Wendy Jo Carlton, Juicy Planet Pictures
  • #163 Katie Hench, Infiniteach LLC
  • #171 Kasra Moshkani, HireBrite
  • #172 Shawn Smith, Resketch LLC
  • #178 Molly Meyer, Rooftop Green Works

The final Top Three will be announced at the Small Business Entrepreneurial Expo on Friday, October 4th. The prizes are: $5,000 for 1st Place, $2,500 for 2nd Place and $1,000.

In addition, one entrant will win a booth space at the upcoming Small Business Entrepreneur Expo (worth $450), based upon the most social media buzz created by their on-line video through the end of August. Everyone should go to www.snipitch.com and comment on their favorite video.
